Feeling great and looking great are two completely different situations. Physical beauty always blossoms from the inside and starts with you.

Having confidence and a great self esteem plays an important role to living a healthy life. Everyone lives a different lifestyle and we all eat a wide variety of foods, even possibly drink alcohol or smoke cigarettes. The point is, that we are all different and live different lifes.

Because of these variety of lifestyles where you drink beer and take shots, they can all have play a negative role on your body and health. It’s possible that over time, these toxins can accumulate in your body. The good news is that our bodies all have the ability to naturally detoxify and remove these toxins, through urination or defecation, which is where a solid colon cleansing product or following a high fiber diet is important.

When these toxins accumulate inside your body, it can bring disease to the body and affect your overall health. We are all equipped with the organs that help your body detoxify naturally. However, sometimes our organs can overwork, and it’s possible we develop serious illnesses and ailments.

A new detox method is to use body wraps. They are specially-formulated to help expel these types of toxins from the body naturally. Body wraps are usually made from sea clay, which act as a compress for the body, and ultimately help draw out the toxins by compressing the skin tissues which help retain the elasticity.

Body Wraps: How They Detox The Body

A body wrap usually covers your body, just as a clay mask covers your face. Body wraps help you by reducing your weight quickly and effectively. They can also assist the detoxification process of your body, as well as help tighten your skin. They enter the pores of your skin to reach the toxins at a deeper level, that ultimately help you lose weight.

Body wraps like these don’t dehydrate the body, so you don’t have to drink excessive amounts of water like you would with herbal colon cleansers. However, you are free to drink as much water as you want, and not gain weight.

At the moment, there are many different body detox wraps on the market, and each of them have their own pros and cons. It’s important that you do as much research as you can. Compare each individual product, to find out which one is best for you. Of course, it’s always wise to consult with your doctor before trying a detox wrap, especially if you’re pregnant.

Besides from body wraps, there are a few other ways you can detoxify your body, including using detox foot pads, or doing a liver cleanse and/or parasite cleanse. Each of them have advantages and disadvantages, so once again, do the proper research before investing your time or money into any detox method.

It’s possible for you to start living a healthy life once again. Releasing these excessive toxins that have built up in your body is the first step. Besides from trying It Works body wraps, you can also try improving your diet and exercising on a regular basis. With the right amount of motivation, you will be back on top of your game in no time!

Anti Aging Research: Techniques to Prevent Aging

Wednesday, July 22nd, 2009 | Author:

smiling_womanSwitch on the television and you will notice advertisements that display beauty products to prevent aging. Flip through the magazine and you are bound to see attractively packaged anti aging creams and anti wrinkle skin care products being advertised by beautiful models. In the ‘beauty business’, skin care as a separate segment, is growing like never before. Beauty parlors and spas are equipped with the latest techniques to prevent aging. Anti aging research today reveals many techniques to stop aging. From anti aging supplements to cosmetic surgery, research has revealed many new techniques that deal with problems related to skin care. These are some of the basic methods that are available at most health clinics to combat aging in very little time (which may include surgery). Health clinics may have separate packages for people with specific problem areas.

Face-Lifts – There are certain clinics where you can get a face-lift done without surgery. The skin is stretched by advanced techniques to minimize wrinkles on the face.

Skin Tightening – This treatment tightens the skin and gives a new look to people who face the problem of sagging skin.

Laser/Chemical Peels – These treatments may vary with each clinic. It improves the texture of the skin. Laser peel treatments are also used to treat scars, reduce wrinkles and excess secretion of oil, which ultimately makes the skin soft and supple.

Botox Treatments – Treatments that involve the use of Botox are mainly used to reduce wrinkles. (Botox treatments are particularly used to reduce and moderate wrinkles between the eyebrows.)

Injection of Gel – Gel is injected into the skin with fine needles to smoothen wrinkles. The kind of gel used can differ from place to place. Such gels are used to restore the firmness of the skin and also enhance facial features.

Apart from these treatments, cosmetic surgery is often an option for the beauty conscious ladies in particular. But, even then, it is not always necessary to rely upon surgery to get rid of wrinkles. Anti aging research also stresses on modifying our habits in our daily life to have beautiful baby-soft skin! Take a look at these anti aging techniques you can incorporate naturally in your daily life.

Natural Techniques to Prevent Aging

Exercise is of prime importance to stay fit and healthy. This also works as a technique to prevent aging. Exercising for half an hour everyday will help you to strengthen your mind and body. Positive energy flows through the body with regular exercise and also tones the muscles. Exercise on a daily basis also helps to pump blood and oxygen through the body. This makes a person feel youthful and adds a healthy glow to the skin.

One really useful anti aging technique is to ensure you have a balanced meal. Forget all the strict diets and junk foods. Have meals that contain green vegetables and include fish in your diet. When one has a balanced diet, the result would obviously be positive. Healthy food only keeps the system fit and clean from within. Skin thus, will remain clear and wrinkle free.

Protect your skin. This is a very important step to prevent aging. Harsh rays of the sun can cause harm no matter the amount of sun block that is applied. Instead of using sunscreens, you can simply opt for a wide-brimmed hat or tie a stylish scarf. The ultraviolet rays of the sun can cause extensive harm to our delicate skin. Prevention in this case, is better than cure to prevent the formation of wrinkles!

Avoid smoking and excessive drinking. This causes the skin to loose the sheen and ends up looking dull and flaky. The sooner you get rid of such habits, the better it is for your skin.

One of the many anti aging secrets is to increase your water intake. Have around 7-8 glasses in a day. Having enough water during the day will keep your skin hydrated and smooth. This is because, water will also assist in the digestion process and this is what keeps the skin looking vibrant and youthful.

Meditate to remain calm even in the most stressful times. Meditation brings out a feeling of well-being. This in turn affects our thinking and functioning power in a positive manner. Once we learn to avoid stress, the skin will automatically show the result. You must complete your sleep cycle and avoid working late hours before the computer. Watching television late into the night should be avoided. These activities will disturb your sleep cycle and affect your skin, causing it to lose its natural elasticity.

Anti aging research provides us with ample opportunities to stop aging. It ultimately depends upon your individual preferences. Using the natural methods will help to stall this process. Use these tips to maintain a healthy glow, forever!

New Research Supports Use of St. John’s Wort for Relieving Depression

Tuesday, October 28th, 2008 | Author:

Hypericum perforatum

For centuries our ancestors have used a plant known as Hypericum perforatum, commonly referred to as St. John’s Wort, as an herbal remedy for many ailments, including mental disorders, diarrhea, nausea, ulcers and sleep disorders. But St. John’s Wort is most commonly known as a natural, herbal remedy for those suffering symptoms of depression and anxiety.

According to new research published in The Cochrane Database of Systematic Reviews, St. John’s Wort is effective at treating major symptoms of depression. This new research backs up previous research conducted in 2005, that came to the same conclusions.

In one of the most comprehensive clinical studies of St. John’s Wort to date, researchers studied 5,489 patients suffering symptoms of major depression. Administering both placebos and St. John’s Wort extract to patients, researchers came to the conclusion that St. John’s Wort was more effective than the placebo at treating mild to major cases of depression.

List of Clinical Studies for St. John’s Wort

This isn’t the first clinical study investigating the effectiveness of St. John’s Wort for symptoms of depression. In fact, here is a short list of studies done within the last fifteen years.

  1. St John’s Wort For Depression — An Overview & Meta-Analysis of Randomised Clinical Trials
  2. St. John’s Wort in Mild to Moderate Depression: The Relevance of Hyperforin for the Clinical Efficacy
  3. St. John’s Wort For Depression: A Meta-Analysis of Well-Defined Clinical Trials
  4. Comparison of Equivalence Between the St. John’s Wort Extract LoHyp-57 and Fluoxetine
  5. Hypericum Extract versus Imipramine or Placebo in Patients with Moderate Depression: Randomised Multicentre Study of Treatment for Eight Weeks
  6. Equivalence of St John’s Wort Extract (Ze 117) and Fluoxetine: A Randomized, Controlled Study in Mild-Moderate Depression
  7. Efficacy of St. John’s Wort Extract WS 5570 in Major Depression: A Double-Blind, Placebo-Controlled Trial
  8. Acute Treatment of Moderate to Severe Depression with Hypericum Extract WS 5570 (St John’s wort): Randomised Controlled Double Blind Non-Inferiority Trial versus Paroxetine.
  9. The Efficacy of St. John’s Wort in Patients with Minor Depressive Symptoms or Dysthymia — A Double-Blind Placebo-Controlled Study

It must be noted that while there is overwhelming evidence supporting the use of Hypericum perforatum, there has been a few studies with different conclusions. In fact, one major study conducted by the National Institues of Health found that St. John’s Wort made no positive impact on patients suffering from major depression.

Possible Side Effects of St. John’s Wort

St. John's Wort (Hypericum perforatum)

It is not uncommon for people to suffer small side effects from St. John’s Wort. Some of these side effects include headaches, nausea, dry mouth, fatigue, dizziness, and/or sensitivity to sunlight.

It is also possible for St. John’s Wort to interact with certain medications, such as birth control or antidepressants, you may already be taking, so it is wise to check with your doctor prior to taking any supplement containing Hypericum perforatum.

Things to Remember with St. John’s Wort

The overall effectiveness of St. John’s Wort depends on many variables. Where does the plant come from? Was it grown in organic conditions? Is it a tablet, powder or liquid? These are all going to affect the overall purity of the supplement. The manufacturing process of any herbal supplement can decrease the overall effectiveness of the benefits you may get from the herb. In fact, it is always best to avoid any supplement in tablet form, due to the brutal manufacturing process and because tablets are harder for the body to absorb.

Hypericum perforatum should NOT be used as a replacement to therapy. Everybody is different, please consult with your family, doctor and/or therapist, prior to taking St. John’s Wort. While it does show promise for treating symptoms of depression, it can also conteract with current medications you may be taking. So, please use caution and common sense.

Bottom line on St. John’s Wort
It is very important to do the proper research on St. John’s Wort, or any supplement you take. Most importantly, know who and where you’re buying the supplement from. Look into the Better Business Bureau records for that specific company. Try to find review’s for that product online, to see what other consumers are saying. You don’t want to ingest something that is of poor quality.
